Privacy policy
What Brimful collects, why, where it is stored and how you can get it deleted.
Last updated: 29 July 2026
Introduction
This policy explains how we handle your personal information when you use the Brimful app or this website. It applies to everything we do with your data, in every country where the app is available.
We have written it in plain language on purpose. If anything is unclear, write to us and we will explain it.
Who we are
Brimful is developed by Berny Studio, which acts as the data controller for the personal information described here. You can reach us at brimful@bernystudio.com for any question or request about your data.
Information you provide
You give us this information directly, by using the app:
- Account details: your email address and password, or your Google or Apple identity if you sign in with those.
- Profile details: name, sex, height and weight, and whether you are pregnant or breastfeeding, if you choose to tell us.
- Your entries: the drinks you log with type, amount and time, and any custom drinks you create.
- Your settings: daily goals, unit system and notification preferences.
Information collected automatically
Brimful contains no analytics, advertising or tracking SDKs. We do not build a profile of how you use the app, and we cannot see your screen, your location or your contacts.
Firebase Authentication records the technical data needed to keep sign-in working and secure, such as your IP address and the date of your last sign-in. Apple provides us with aggregate, anonymous App Store statistics (downloads, crashes, versions) that cannot be traced back to you.
Health-related information
Some of what you enter concerns your health: your weight, whether you are pregnant or breastfeeding, and your alcohol and caffeine intake. Under the GDPR this is a special category of personal data.
We use it only to calculate the estimates and goals the app shows you. The legal basis is your explicit consent, which you give by entering the data and can withdraw at any time by deleting the entry or your whole account.
Why we use your information
We use your data to run the app and nothing else: to calculate your progress and goals, show your history, send the reminders you switched on, manage your account and handle your Brimful Plus subscription.
The legal bases are: performance of our contract with you (running the account and the subscription), your consent (health-related data and notifications), and our legitimate interest in keeping the service secure and free of abuse.
Where your information is stored
Your data is stored on Google Firebase, that is Cloud Firestore and Firebase Authentication, which acts as our processor. Google's own privacy terms and security measures apply to that infrastructure.
If you sign in with Google or Apple, that sign-in is handled by Google LLC and Apple Inc. under their own privacy policies. If you buy Brimful Plus, Apple processes the payment through the App Store: we never see or store your card details.
Who we share it with
We share your data only with the providers listed above, and only to the extent they need it to run the service on our behalf. We do not share it with advertisers, data brokers or insurers.
We may disclose information if the law requires it, or to establish or defend a legal claim. If that ever happens, we will tell you unless we are legally barred from doing so.
We do not sell your data, and we do not train AI on it
We do not sell your personal information, we do not rent it, and we do not use it for advertising or profiling. We do not use your entries to train artificial intelligence models, ours or anyone else's.
Cookies and tracking on this website
This website sets no profiling cookies and runs no analytics. The brand logos on the home page are loaded from the Brandfetch Logo API, which therefore receives the request and your IP address. It is the only external service the site contacts. Our hosting provider keeps short-lived technical logs needed to serve the pages.
Security
Traffic between the app and our servers is encrypted in transit, and data is encrypted at rest by Google's infrastructure. Access rules on the database mean that each account can only read and write its own documents.
No system is perfect. If you believe you have found a security issue, please write to us before disclosing it publicly.
If something goes wrong
If a data breach occurs that is likely to put your rights at risk, we will notify the competent supervisory authority within 72 hours of becoming aware of it, and we will tell you directly when the law requires it.
How long we keep your information
We keep your data for as long as your account exists. When you delete your account, your profile, goals and drink history are permanently removed from our systems; residual copies in encrypted backups are overwritten within 30 days.
We may keep the minimum records needed for accounting or to defend a legal claim, for as long as the applicable law requires.
Your rights
Wherever you live, you can ask us to give you a copy of your data, correct it, delete it, or send it to another provider in a portable format. If you are in the EEA or the UK you can also object to or restrict certain processing, withdraw your consent at any time, and lodge a complaint with your national data protection authority.
Two of these you can do yourself, right now: export your entries as a CSV file from Settings, and delete your account and everything in it from Settings → Delete account. Deletion is immediate and cannot be undone.
How to exercise your rights
Write to brimful@bernystudio.com from the address linked to your account. We reply within one month; if a request is unusually complex we may take longer, and we will tell you why. Exercising your rights is free.
Children
Brimful is not intended for children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect their data. If we learn that an account belongs to a child under that age, we delete it. If you are a parent and believe your child has created an account, write to us.
International transfers
Our providers may process your data outside your country, including in the United States. Those transfers rely on the safeguards Google and Apple put in place for their cloud services, such as the European Commission's standard contractual clauses.
Links to other services
The app and this website link to services we do not control, such as the App Store and our social profiles. Once you follow one of those links, the privacy policy of that service applies, not ours.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Substantial changes will be announced inside the app, and the date at the top of this page always tells you which version you are reading.
